Depict Evaluation

WHAT WAS THE TASK?
Our task in groups, was to create a entry for a competition called 'Depict'. 'Depict', has a main goal of the video being ninety seconds so our video had to reach ninety seconds. It could be any style of video we like.
WHAT  WAS YOUR IDEA?
Our idea was to do a documentary-style video on a stalker who keeps watching  a female and gaining the courage to as her out. We wanted it to be a comedy based video.
PLANNING
The pre-production process was a massive part of the production for our video. There were many stages to pre-production which needed to be be complete before filming. We started off by doing a storyboard so we knew where our video was going in terms of storyline, but also so we knew how many shots we wanted and how long each shot was going to be for. We all took turns in the drawing process to make sure that we were all involved We also discussed how long we thought each shot should be for. Other planning processes included a risk assesment, a shot list, location reccees and releases and a talent release. We divided these up between the group. for example: two people working on the location reccee and the others working on the location releases.
DID THE FINISHED WORK REFLECT THE PLANNING?
Personally, I think that the finished product reflected the planning quite well. This is because we stuck to our plans. For instance: we stuck with the shot list when we were filming so the shots in the final video are the exact same as they are shown in the shot list. We also stuck to all of the locations we had planned in our location releases.
WHAT CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE PLANNING AND WHY?
One change that was made to the planning was the timing of the shots on the storyboard. We had previously set times for each shot, however we changed some later on to be a little longer because we either felt like the shot would take more time or we needed to make sure the video reached ninety seconds.
WHAT WAS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL ASPECT OF THE PROJECT?
Personally, I think a successful aspect of the video was how we were able to add details to make the video better. An example of this is the phone and sound effects.
I think that this was successful because it made the video more entertaining and also covered some unoccupied space in the shot.

WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU MAKE IF YOU WERE TO  DO IT AGAIN?
If we were to do it again, I think the one thing that I think would need to be changed is the shot lengths. I think some shots need to be longer because some shots are very fast and the voiceover runs into the next shot. An example of this is in this shot:

I think that the shot on the left is too short as the voiceover to go with that scene runs onto the shot on the right.
WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST?
Personally, I enjoyed the filmng process the most as I found it fun being in front of the camera
